Why Avocado Powder Is Great To Keep On Hand

There are certain items that are just pantry staples in almost every home. Flour, sugar, oats, and breadcrumbs generally belong on this list. There is, however, another product you should consider making a staple in your kitchen: avocado powder. It may sound strange at first, but here are a few reasons why you'll never want to be without avocado powder again.

You can mix up a quick dip

Most people like guacamole. It's a fresh and healthy dip and a lovely topping for tacos or burritos. Making guacamole from fresh avocados, though, is not always easy. First, you have to find a ripe avocado, which is not always easy. Grocery stores like to stock ones that are a few days from ripeness, which requires you to plan ahead. Then, there's the matter of slicing the avocado, which should not be that difficult, but many people do go to the emergency room with what's known as avocado hand — a gash resulting from their attempts to remove the pit from the avocado. If you have avocado powder on hand, you can skip all this and mix up a quick bowl of guacamole whenever you want.

You have a filling addition to smoothies

Smoothies can be really delicious and nutritious, but they are often not very filling. If you really want to make a smoothie a meal, you need a good source of protein and fat. Avocado powder is a good, natural choice. A couple of scoops will add enough fat and protein to your smoothie to keep you full until your next meal. The fat in avocado is an unsaturated, healthy fat, so you'll be doing your heart a favor by eating it.

You can use it as a salad dressing or spread base

Do you ever get bored with the salad dressings and spreads in your fridge? You can only go through so much mayo and ranch before it gets old. If you have avocado powder in your pantry, you can always mix up a quick, homemade dressing or spread. There are so many ways you can dress up a dressing with an avocado powder base. Add Italian herbs or a unique, creamy Italian dressing, or add garlic and cayenne for a little spice. The possibilities are endless.

Once you start using avocado powder, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. This powder definitely deserves a spot in your pantry
