Understanding Food Supplier Challenges

Easy Ways To Use Extra Honey-Roasted Pecans

When you buy pecans, or any nut for that matter, they are often cheapest when bought in bulk from a wholesale supplier. Saving money and receiving more pecans is sure to bring a smile to your face — until you realize you now have more honey-roasted pecans than you know what to do with. Luckily, there are some easy and delicious ways to use them up.

Make Pecan Butter

While peanut butter may be the most famous of the nut butters, pecan butter is delicious, too. Making it with honey-roasted pecans gives it a uniquely sweet and toasty flavor. All you need is your honey-roasted pecans and a little canola oil.

Place about a cup of pecans in a food processor and start processing. Once you see that the nuts are mostly in tiny chunks, start streaming the canola oil in through the top of the processor as it continues to run. Keep going until the nut butter reaches your desired consistency. If you used a cup of honey-roasted pecans, you'll need about 1 - 2 tablespoons of canola oil to get a smooth butter.

Make Trail Mix

Trail mix isn't just good for hiking. It's a great snack to bring along on long car rides, to the office, or to school. Honey-roasted pecans are a good addition because they add some protein and healthy fats to the mix. You can add whatever you want to your trail mix, but here's a good basic mix to get you started:

  • 1 cup honey-roasted pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sweetened, dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, shells removed

Stir everything together in a bowl, and store it at room temperature with the lid on.

Top Your Oatmeal

If you enjoy oatmeal for breakfast in the morning, try topping it with some honey-roasted pecans for some extra protein and a sweet crunch. You could place 5 - 6 pecans over the top of your oatmeal and then drizzle on some maple syrup for another special touch. A pinch of flaked coconut and another pinch of sunflower seeds are also nice additions.

If you're able to save by buying honey-roasted pecans in larger quantities, go ahead and do so. There are always ways to use up these tasty nuts. You're sure to love their sweet flavor and the hint of toasted perfection they offer.
